Confidentiality

Your medical records are held in the strictest confidence. Information is not passed on without your consent, unless it is within the confines of the NHS, or by legal requirement or if it is in the public interest.

The practice is registered under the Data Protection Act 1988. It is both a practice and legal requirement that all staff maintain confidentiality of patients’ records.

The practice holds personal health information which is of course confidential. This information will be used to help us target our care, e.g. in assessing these patients who would benefit from flu vaccinations, extra clinic attendance etc.

FREEDOM OF INFORMATION – PUBLICATION SCHEME
The Freedom of Information Act 2000 obliges the practice to produce a Publication Scheme. A Publication Scheme is a guide to the ‘classes’ of information the practice intends to routinely make available. A copy of this scheme is available from reception.
